V-SEG-SIZE - This configuration variable sets the maximum size of a file segment. The default value is 2 GB - 1 KB (i.e., 2,147,482,623 or hexadecimal 7FFFFBFF), except on older HP/UX machines where the default value is 1073740799 (1 KB short of 1 GB) due to an operating system limitation. You may not use larger values, but you can set smaller ones. Setting a smaller value can help if you do not have 2 GB free on any disk or for testing purposes. For best performance, you should set this value as high as possible (to minimize the number of files created). vutil uses this setting too, but only if it is set in the environment (not the configuration file).
