This section explains how to install ACUCOBOL-GT for 16- or 32-bit Windows. The installation requires little interaction; the setup program from Acucorp copies the ACUCOBOL-GT files into a directory you designate, or "C:\ACUCBL43" by default.
After the installation is complete, if you have installed the compiler, you can begin to compile and execute your COBOL programs. Basic compilation and execution techniques are described in sections 4.3 and 4.4.
Note that Windows 3.1 and Windows NT 3.5 (and earlier) use a Program Manager construct to organize programs and files. Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 (and later) use a Task Bar and open desktop construct to organize programs and files. On the Task Bar, the Start button is used to launch programs or open select folders. In this section we will distinguish between these two interfaces by simply referring to the Program Manager or the Start menu.
