1.5 Product Integration

This book describes several methods for deploying ACUCOBOL-GT applications over the Internet. All of the methods described involve one or more Acucorp technologies from the extend^TM family of Acucorp solutions. Just as all of the technologies in the extend family work together to provide a complete enterprise client/server solution, the extend technologies work together to provide a complete Internet solution as well. Acucorp technologies can work alone or in combination with other technologies, depending on the functions that you require.

If you want to provide access to remote Vision, relative, or sequential data and object files over the Internet, you can use AcuServer^TM, our remote data server technology. If you want to provide access to remote data and applications, you can use a combination of AcuServer and AcuConnect^TM, our remote application server. If you want to provide access to remote RDBMSs and applications, you can use Acu4GL^TM, our COBOL-to-RDBMS bridge, in combination with AcuConnect. If you choose to write CGI programs to provide Internet communication, you can write those programs in ACUCOBOL-GT. You can also use the ACUCOBOL-GT Web Plug-in to enable your application to run from within a browser window. And the list goes on . . .

For clarity, this book describes the simplest scenarios. Remember that a combination of approaches may in fact be more ideal for you.
