Q.2 The "-Cp" Command Line Argument

The "-Cp" command line argument allows ACUCOBOL-GT to accept non-ANSI features of HP e3000 COBOL. Those features are described in the following subsections, organized in the order in which the features occur in a COBOL program. The use of the "-Cp" option with the ACUCOBOL-GT compiler triggers the following HP e3000-specific behavior.

• It invokes the ACUCOBOL-GT precompiler for HP e3000 COBOL.
• In the Special Names Paragraph of the Environment Division, the HP e3000 COBOL-style program switches "SW0" through "SW15" are accepted.
• In the Special Names Paragraph of the Environment Division, the TOP and NO SPACE CONTROL phrases are accepted in the ADVANCING clause of the WRITE statement.
• In the File Control Paragraph of the Environment Division, the keyword RANDOM loses its default ACUCOBOL-GT meaning and becomes synonymous with DYNAMIC.
• In the Procedure Division, several register extensions are supported. They are:

  CURRENT-DATE
  TALLY
  TIME-OF-DAY
  WHEN-COMPILED

• In the Procedure Division, several non-ANSI statements or formats are supported. They are:

  CALL statement Format 4 and Format 5
  CONVERT phrase on ACCEPT statement
  COPY Statement
  EXAMINE statement
  FREE phrase on ACCEPT statement
