AcuODBC Server provides you with a true two-tier environment - one in which SQL processing is performed remotely on an application server. In addition, AcuODBC Server includes utilities for configuring remote DSNs in either a Windows NT or UNIX environment. This chapter provides the additional information you need to configure a remote DSN and describes the remote data source configuration utilities. This chapter pertains to sites where SQL processing is performed remotely on an application server, and the DSN, therefore, resides on that server. If processing will be done locally, it is not necessary to read this chapter or Chapter 8.
Before you can use AcuODBC Server, you must create DSNs on both the client and the server.
