In local processing, both the AcuODBC interface and the COBOL data files reside on the same Windows computer, or on a Windows NT/2000 server in a networked environment. This is also known as single-tier architecture.
A typical local-processing installation is illustrated in the following diagram. Note that both data access and processing are performed on the same machine.
