5.8 Licensing Considerations

The ACUCOBOL-GT Web Plug-in is shipped with a product code and product key that defines the licensing capabilities specified in your purchase agreement. When you supply your key information during installation, the installer activates a license file that contains information such as the product's version number, serial number, expiration date, and user count. After installation, the plug-in must be able to locate its license file in order to function.

The plug-in searches for the license file, "acucorp.lic", in the same directory as the executable, "plugins". If it does not find it there, it searches the Windows registry, then the environment The plug-in executable is a dynamic link library called "NPacu32.dll".

If you move the plug-in executable to a new directory, be sure to move the license file as well or remember to change the registry or environment variable. If no license file is found, or if the information in the license file does not permit execution, the plug-in exits with an error message.

If you are licensed for other Acucorp technologies, such as Acu4GL or AcuSQL, the "acucorp.lic" file will reflect these licenses as well. As long as the plug-in can locate the license file, it will be able to work with these technologies as well.
