Troubleshooting
This section describes messages that users may encounter when installing or using the plug-in.
A plug-in for this file type was not found.
Users receive this message if do not have the ACUCOBOL-GT Web Plug-in installed on their machine when they try to launch your application. They should license a copy of the ACUCOBOL-GT Web Plug-in and install it on their machine. The installation script automatically makes a file type association for ACUCOBOL-GT object files (i.e. ".acu" extension) with the plug-in runtime.
Access denied.
If the "acuauth.txt" file is empty or missing from the client machine when the plug-in is invoked, the COBOL application is denied access to the local machine's file system. The user should edit or create an "acuauth.txt" file that contains the names of all required directories.
Blank screen on install.
If users receive a blank screen from Microsoft Internet Explorer when they try to install the AcuServer Client version of the Web plug-in, they may not have a copy of "RPC4W32.DLL" in their Windows DLL search path. Users should place a copy of "RPC4W32.DLL" in their browser's "plugins" directory along with "NPacu32.DLL", then try the install again.
Make sure you have enough memory and have installed all of the components of this plug-in.
Users receive this message if they do not have a copy of "mfc42.dll" in their Windows DLL search path or if the DLL in the search path is outdated when they try to use the Web plug-in. Users should place a copy of "mfc42.dll" in their Windows DLL search path, then try again. Typically, the Windows DLL search path is c:\windows\system on Windows 95/98 and c:\winnt\system32 on Windows NT. Users can find a copy of the "mfc42.dll" file in the AcuGT\bin directory on their ACUCOBOL-GT distribution media.
You may only run one instance of the ACUCOBOL-GT plug-in at a time.
A user has tried to start a second instance of the plug-in, and the standard runtime is not found on his or her machine. The user must get and install the standard ACUCOBOL-GT runtime to run multiple COBOL programs at once.
