2.2 Software Installation

AcuServer is shipped on either tape or diskette. The file "READ_ME.srv" describes the contents of the media.

To install AcuServer on a UNIX server:

1. Create a directory on the server to hold the AcuServer software.

2. Change directory (cd) into the new directory and extract the software using tar or cpio.

   tar xfv device_name 

or

   cpio -icvBd < device_name 

3. Move "etc/a_srvcfg" into the /etc directory. This may require superuser privileges.

There is nothing on the AcuServer distribution media to install on the client machines. To install the ACUCOBOL-85 or ACUCOBOL-GT runtime on the client, see your runtime documentation. Then proceed to the next section, System Configuration.
