


To install AcuODBC in a single-tier environment
1. Start Windows. If Windows is already running, exit all applications, including Microsoft Office.
2. Insert the installation diskette into your floppy drive.
3. Select "Start" then "Run."
4. On the command line, type:
a:setup (or b:setup if you're using the b: drive)
Then press <Enter> or click "OK." The installation procedure starts, and a welcome screen displays.
5. Click the "Next" button to continue the installation. A registration screen displays.
6. Enter your name and company name on the registration screen. When you are finished, click "Next" to continue.
The Select Components screen displays.
7. Select which components you want to install:
The ODBC Driver for ACUCOBOL-GT Data (required for AcuODBC operation)
Sample programs
The sample programs, discussed in Chapter 4, are useful for verifying that the installation was successful and that the driver is functioning on your system.
After you select the components to install, the Choose Destination Location screen displays.
8. Enter the name of the directory where you want AcuODBC to be installed, then click "Next." The default directory is "\acuodbc32". If the directory you specify does not currently exist, you are asked, "Should Setup create it for you?" Click "Yes" to continue.
9. In the 32-bit AcuODBC window, choose a folder where icons for AcuODBC and its sample programs should be stored, then click "Next." The default folder is "32-bit AcuODBC Sample Programs."
10. After you select a program folder, you are prompted for installation disk #2, then ultimately, installation disk #3. Insert the disks when requested, and all the necessary files are copied onto your hard drive. Your initial installation is complete!
