5.1 Working With Windows Applications
The easiest way to access Vision data from Windows applications is using MS Query, a database query tool that comes with Microsoft Office. You can invoke MS Query directly from Windows applications like Word for Windows and Excel. Once in MS Query, you can navigate through a series of menus to create automatic SQL statements for the ODBC driver manager. ODBC calls to the Vision file system are totally transparent when you use MS Query.
This chapter describes how to retrieve Vision data from some of the most popular Windows applications using MS Query. It also describes how to access Vision data directly from Access without MS Query.
